Balcony Restoration

The 1840s terrace featuring a cantilevered balcony was in need of restoration due to severe rot in the joists and posts.

The existing decking boards ran parallel to the house, causing improper water runoff.

The restoration process involved removing all metalwork and propping up the balcony roof, followed by demolishing the old decking.

Cantilever joists were restored, and noggins were added between them to allow for boards to run at correct angles and improve water runoff.

The metalwork was stripped and repainted using a two-part epoxy enamel paint.

The timber post was rebuilt to match the original in order to enhance the look at completion.

As a result the balcony was given a new lease of life while retaining its original appearance.
